Staying full so you won’t be hungry!

Have you ever been eating a meal and you know you have had enough but you just want a little more? That feeling of wanting more is more mental than physical , often that little extra is more than your body needed. Before you realize it you start feeling sick because you over filled your stomach and you say to yourself I don’t know why I did that, I was full a plate ago! Thinking about this thought brought about a contrast to our spiritual walk! We have already taken in all that we need when we surrendered our lives to God and received the holy spirit to guide us throughout life’s journey. We just need a continuous balance of Bible study and prayer to stay full. You might think, how can I stay full spiritually when your so busy with life’s responsibilities?

Going to the word consistently keeps us from going hungry! When we lack spiritual food we crave physical food or fleshly food in a spiritual sense. Our bodies are containers for what we decide to store in them. We wouldn’t store food that has already spoiled in the same container as fresh food that’s ready to consume, but that’s what we do spiritually!

If you put rotting food with good food, it won’t take long for the rot to start growing on the good! Often we fill our lives with what the world tells us that makes us full and there is a buffet of ungodly things looking so good to our sinful eyes. Just like when our stomach tells us later that our body has had to much, our spiritual continence tells us the world’s food is not what we need. We need to stay so full on spiritual food that we don’t allow ourselves to hunger for what the world has to offer!

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.

Hebrews 11:25 KJV

Just like the scripture says sin may be fun for a time, but in the end you will never satisfy the hunger that can only be filled by Christ alone!

So think about this next time your tempted to eat to much, you need to stay full (God’s word) so you won’t be hungry (world’s buffet). Don’t trade in the momentary pleasure of sin, for the lasting peace of being right in the sight of God!
